Am 15.08.2025 erschien bei "Omnivore Recordings" das CD-Set „Doc Pomus – You Can’t Hip A Square: The Doc Pomus Songwriting Demos“ mit 48-seitigem Booklet nebst 160 Songs auf 6 CDs wovon eine die Demoversionen für Elvis enthält.

Ankündigung:
"...  "You Can’t Hip A Square" zeichnet die Karriere von Doc und seinen Songwriting-Partnern anhand der beliebten Rock-, Pop- und R&B-Hits nach, die zu Standards des 20. Jahrhunderts wurden. Songs wie „A Teenager In Love”, „Viva Las Vegas”, „Lonely Avenue”, „Save The Last Dance For Me“ und „This Magic Moment“ wurden von Künstlern wie Elvis Presley, Lou Reed, The Drifters, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beach Boys, Ray Charles, The Coasters, Dionne Warwick, Dion, The Everly Brothers, Linda Ronstadt und vielen anderen aufgenommen! Die Liste der Songs und Künstler, die sie aufgenommen haben, ist endlos.

Nun wurden die Demo-Acetate, die Doc aufbewahrt hatte und die von seiner Tochter Sharyn Felder gepflegt wurden, zum ersten Mal sorgfältig übertragen, restauriert, gemastert und zu einem 6-CD- / Digital-Boxset zusammengestellt, das einige der größten Hits aus Docs Karriere in Demoform sowie eine Fundgrube bisher unbekannter, nie veröffentlichter Songs enthält, die zurückgelassen und nie von einem Künstler aufgenommen wurden. Es ist eine bemerkenswerte Sammlung von „Was wäre wenn“-Songs der Popmusik der späten 50er und 60er Jahre. Wäre es möglich, dass einer der zurückgelassenen Songs die Nummer 1 geworden wäre, wenn er von einem populären Künstler wie Elvis aufgenommen worden wäre?

Die Sammlung wurde von Sharyn Felder, dem Verleger Will Bratton und Cheryl Pawelski, der mehrfach mit dem Grammy Award ausgezeichneten Produzentin von Omnivore, koproduziert und enthält außerdem einen Hauptbeitrag von Geoffrey Himes sowie zusätzliche Anmerkungen von Sharyn Felder, Peter Guralnick, Eddie Gorodetsky, Will Bratton und Cheryl Pawelski. Die Restaurierung und das Mastering wurden von dem mehrfachen Grammy-Gewinner Michael Graves und Jordan McLeod im Osiris Studio übernommen.
