This information is not correct as far as I know. When ALLC was released there was a great, honest and lovely interview from JXL on many internet pages. He described how much work it was to create this remix. First of all of the fact, that he wanted to be perfect, because of the respect he had for Elvis music, The other point was, that he wanted not to kill with standard beats only the heart of the original version. The third point was, that RCA/BMG does not allow him to work with the master tape or only a copy of it. So he had to mix his version with a standard CD file and had to do the job he did with a stereo file only (without doing it the easy way he could have done with a multi-track tape) He workes for more than one week (with a very few hours of sleep only) to finish the remix for Nike in time. He said, that it was a very difficult and hard working job, but the result and the success the song had, pleased him, that every minute of his work was it worth it.
His Remix was Nummer One in more than 20 countries, so he also could have done a statement like: "Hey I did that in one hour, because I´m great and the best remixer in the world"...but he never did, he was honest and I believe him, because if you like remixes or not, if you judge the work he did, you must -if you are fair - say, that his thing is one of the finest and best tracks you´ve ever heard. For me it´s "one of a kind" and he saw it similar to that, because he anounced years ago, that he is not able to top his work and because of that he will never remix an Elvis song again.

I don't like this one either. It's a fucking piece of junk and a sacrilege to Elvis's music.

On television he explained about the situation he was not able to do the mix because he had no Mastertape or a copy.
And tried different ideas... that took many hours.

But Nike gave him a deadline and because of this he had to finish the job at night and had no other choise to work from a standard CD to mix the concept for Nike.

JXL himself mentioned; this Mix took him about two hours.... and became a Worlwide hit.

there are some differences: JXL did the mix with the 68Special version. This version wasn't available in 2002 at this time, right? We got this version for the first time in August 2002 on this fantastic double CD called "Memories". But JXL did his version earlier for NIKE.

So he MUST have had the original 68version for his final mix. So it wasn't a official standard CD. Something is wrong in the statement of JXL.

He only had the master mix, not the multitrack tapes with the separation of vocals and instruments. He could have worked much better and easier if he had the multitrack tapes so he could have used Elvis's voice without the original intruments. Although I don't like the remix and the idea of remixing Elvis originals, I must admit he did a great job considering what material he had. Anyway, he could have done much better with the multitrack tapes from the session.

trotzdem interessant, dass er diese 68 Comeback version erhielt zum Mixen und nicht den offiziellen Studio MasterTake. Bis dato war der Comebacksong nicht bekannt...

Ich vermute, er hatte beide zur Auswahl, aber die 68er Version ist besser geeignet. Die Studio-Version ist in A-Dur, und Elvis singt komplett in der gleichen Tonlage. Die 68er-Version ist interessanterweise in E-Dur, also 4 Töne tiefer. Am Anfang singt Elvis da in einer sehr tiefen Lage und okataviert am Ende nach oben. So findet eine Steigerung statt. Sehr interessant übrigens, warum man die Tonart gewechselt hat. Ein Versehen kann das nicht sein, da der Komponist des Songs, Billy Strange, in beide Projekte involviert war.

Since JXL told in the interview he just used an excisting Cd to mix.
