Das Jubiläum ist zwar um, aber ich denke, das hier passt ganz gut hier rein. Sehr interessant: Brian wird demnächst ein Konzert geben. Dabei als Gäste: Al Jardine und David Marks! Genau genommen stehen damit mehr echte Beach Boys auf der Bühne, als bei der Band, die den Namen "Beach Boys" trägt, nämlich Mike & Bruce's Show...

1:48 p.m.: The Grammy drought for the Beach Boys is over. The historical album trophy goes to the Beach Boys for “The Smile Sessions,” a 2011 set commemorating the long-lost album begun by the Beach Boys and Van Dyke Parks in the mid-’60s and eventually released as “Brian Wilson Presents Smile” in 2004.

Wilson was there to accept the prize, and he kept it curt. “Van Dyke Parks and I knew we were very ahead of our time in 1965. In 2004 we released it. Good.” And away we go. This is the Beach Boys’ first-ever Grammy win. The band did receive a lifetime achievement award in 2001 and Wilson won a rock instrumental perforance Grammy in 2004 for his "Mrs. O'Leary's Cow."






Um das zu vervollständigen: 1999 waren die Beach Boys vorgesehen einen Grammy für Pet Sounds als "Album des Jahrhunderts" zu bekommen, aber sie haben abgelehnt.

Sehr schön, das hat sowohl die Band als auch Brian absolut verdient.

Paul: Yeah, that is true, yeah! I mean it was wild and wacky days, you know, and I just went round to the studio because they invited me. I just thought it would be fun to sit there and watch them record, ‘cause I’m a big fan. And so I was there, and then it was, I think, Brian who came over and said, ‘Oh Paul, got a favour to ask: would you mind recording something?’ I thought, ‘Oh, no! But great, I could do that!' Oh God, I’m gonna be singing on a Beach Boys record or something, you know! I got a bit kind of intimidated and thought, ‘Okay, here goes nothing’. And they said, ‘Well, what we want you to do is go in there and just munch!’ …Well, I can do that! So, if you hear somebody munching celery, that’s me!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Beach Boys will answer questions about their celebrated career during a rare live group appearance.

SiriusXM on Tuesday announced founding members Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine and David Marks along with fellow Beach Boy, Bruce Johnston, will participate in the satellite radio service’s “Town Hall” series.

Award-winning actor and director Rob Reiner will moderate the discussion as the Beach Boys answer questions from a group of SiriusXM listeners at the Capitol Records Tower in Los Angeles on July 30. It’s where they recorded some of their early songs.

Beach Boys’ manager Jerry Schilling says it’s historic because they have not been in the same place since their 50th anniversary shows in 2012.

The event will air on Aug. 10 on SiriusXM’s Beach Boys channel.

As for today, I would just like to say how much fun I had at the Capitol Records Tower where the five of us reunited, in one room, with the goal of promoting the Beach Boys SiriusXM station (channel 4) and the Royal Philharmonic CD. It was more than great to see Brian, Al, Mike, and Bruce - some things never change!
I’d like to say big thank you’s to: everyone at Capitol who welcomed us home, Rob Reiner for a thoughtful and entertaining discussion, Lou Simon and everyone at SiriusXM for all of their efforts to support the music, Jerry Schilling at Brother Records for bringing us all together, Eric Breslow, for not only making sure we arrived in style (in his Bentley) but for always having our backs, and last but not least, Mike, Jacquelyn, Brian & Ambha Love, who went out of their way to be kind and supportive during what could have been an awkward afternoon, to say the least. Thank you all for the friendship and love! You find your true friends in the darkness!
