Editorial Reviews
From 1954 until 1968, the King of Rock and Roll recorded an astounding 633 songs, resulting in 26 number one hits, and 45 gold records. From the years 1969 to 1973, he returned to the studio with a new passion for recording. By 1976, the “Hillbilly Cat’s” enthusiasm for recording had clearly waned.
His last two albums only came about after the record company authorized mobile recording equipment to be brought to Graceland, and a make-shift studio set-up in what is now known now as the “Jungle Room.”
In January 1977, there was one final studio session set for the king. There was finally material, which he was excited to record, and a new studio in Nashville. Due to less than clear circumstances, those sessions, and any subsequent album, were never completed.
“NEXT Train From Memphis”, revisits the never completed tracks. The album captures the performance and production styles so familiar to fans of The King. Sadly there will never be new recordings from The King, but this album recreates the feeling and sound we all remember. It gives the listener the chance to realize the possibility of what these songs might have sounded like.
In 1978, COL Tom Parker was quoted as saying, "Elvis Didn't die, only the body did. I spoke to him this morning, and he said, 'Carry on.' "We're keeping up the good spirits, we're keeping his memory alive."
All proceeds from the sale of this album go to the Edie Hand Foundation, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media. Amazon.com's standard return policy will apply.
